Privacy policy

When the AI Mode panel is open, the extension sends the page you're viewing to our server so a summary can be generated:

• The page's address and title.
• The page's readable text, up to the first 12,000 characters, and its headings.
• A random install ID. It's a random string the extension creates when installed. It isn't tied to your name, email or Google account, and it goes away if you remove the extension.

Nothing is sent while the panel is closed. Browser-internal pages such as settings, extensions and new-tab pages are never read.

• No account, name, email address or password. There is nothing to sign up for.
• No browsing history. Only the page you have open while the panel is open.
• No keystrokes, form contents, passwords or payment details.
• Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising profiles.

Our server passes the page text to an AI model through OpenRouter, a service that routes requests to AI model providers, to produce the summary. The model receives the page content only. It does not receive your install ID or IP address. OpenRouter's handling of requests is described in its own privacy policy.

Our server runs on Fly.io and stores data in MongoDB Atlas. Both act as hosting providers for us and do not use the data for their own purposes.

• Summaries, for 1 hour. Each summary is cached with the page address so the same page isn't summarized twice in a row. Cache entries expire automatically after an hour.
• Usage events, for 90 days. When a summary is produced, or a sponsored card is shown or clicked, we record the event type, the site's hostname (for example "example.com", not the full address), the install ID, and a timestamp. No IP address is stored with events. They are deleted automatically after 90 days.
• Rate limiting, in memory only. Request counts per install ID and IP address live in the server's memory to limit abuse and are never written to a database. Standard server logs are kept briefly for debugging.

A summary may include one card marked Sponsored when it matches the topic of the page. The match is made on our server from the page's content. Advertisers do not receive your page content, your install ID or any information about you. We record only that a card was shown or clicked, together with the site's hostname.

Your browser shows that AI Mode can "read and change all your data on all websites." That permission is what lets the extension read the text of the page you're on so it can be summarized. It does not change pages, and it reads nothing while the panel is closed.

• Close the panel and nothing is sent.
• Remove the extension and its install ID is gone. Cached summaries and events expire on their own schedule above.
